In my opinion I think it’s too big of a jump to go right into a letter order that is good for reading/building words. You have those that believe letters should be taught in an order based on how the look, taught in an order where letters that are more common in reading/the world around us, or a letter order that assists with reading/building words. I could not find where ONE scope was regarded higher than another. However, in my Science of Reading journey, I wanted to make sure that there wasn’t an alternate scope out there that was better. Teachers have had immense success with this so it was the scope already at the top of my list. Kinderphonics Unit 1 introduces letters Aa-Zz the first 25 days of school. This program has been used around the country since fall 2014.

Back in 2014 I released my phonics program called KinderPhonics. However, I do have some personal thoughts on spending the first 25 days of school introducing the alphabet. (It should be noted that although my programs go Aa-Zz, you CAN swap the letter order if you must!) I get a lot of questions about using an Aa-Zz order.
